Content creators have different priorities than most people. I met with a handful of successful creators last week and one question I asked everyone was “how much do you work”. I was expecting something along the lines of 50-80 hour per week. What I heard was half of that. I was shocked. Entrepreneurship is a grind, no doubt, but I think most have been spoon fed the belief that it has to be that way, or you’re doing something wrong. It’s so easy to play the comparison game. “They must be killing it” “They must work 80 hours a week” “I could never do as much as them” “If only I could work more” A common theme among successful creators was “I could do more but I choose not to”. And “I want to spend more time with my family and kids” This choice. This freedom. This luxury is why most creators started in the first place. Most have had 9-5 corporate experience and have decided to no longer trade their time. Obviously there are the Hormozis of the world that perpetuate hustle culture and there are plenty of entrepreneurs out there who hustle. I think it’s just important to remember, it’s all your choice.
