Hi, my name is Sheyla, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart on behalf of my family. On the morning of my college orientation, June 7th at 9:27 AM, our lives were turned upside down. My dad had gone to get the car so we could leave we were running late. As my mom and I stepped outside, we noticed several cars down the street, and something didn’t feel right. Then we saw them. It was ICE. We tried to call my dad, desperate to warn him he didn’t answer until our third attempt. When he finally picked up, he sounded shaken. He simply said, “ICE got me. Come to the corner.” I grabbed my mom and ran. What happened next will never leave me. The ICE agents had already taken him. I screamed and cried, begging them to let me talk to my dad. I held onto the car door, not wanting to let go. I just needed a moment. Just to say goodbye. Just to tell him I love him. Through tears, I heard him say, “It’s okay. I love you. Take care of yourself and the family.” Then they drove away with him. My father is not a criminal. He is a kind, honest, and hardworking man who has spent years dedicating himself to his family. He works tirelessly to support us his wife, his three children, and the baby we’re expecting soon. He is our provider, our protector, our home. We are devastated, scared, and unsure of what to do next. We need legal support immediately, but we cannot do this alone. We’re asking for help to cover legal fees, immigration assistance, and any other expenses we’ll face trying to bring our dad home.
