Unionized Canada Post workers will get a chance to vote directly on the employers’ offer for a new collective agreement starting on Monday. The Canadian Industrial Relations Board will run the vote between July 21 to August 1. Canada Post has been at an impasse with the union representing roughly 55,000 postal service workers for months. Federal Jobs Minister Patty Hajdu last month asked the Canada Industrial Relations Board to step in and put the Crown corporation’s latest offer to a vote from workers themselves. That deal would see wage hikes for postal workers as well as changes aimed at rolling out seven-day-a-week delivery — a move Canada Post argues is critical for its struggling business. Arsonist sets pants of fire while attempting to set fire to salon New South Wales Police released CCTV footage on Monday, July 7, which captured the incredible moment an arsonist set a Sydney salon and himself on fire. According to police, emergency services were called to the shop in Burwood, in the city’s inner west, at about 5 am on Friday, June 13, following reports of a fire. “The fire resulted in the evacuation of a residential complex above the shop,” police said. Newly released security footage shows the pair of arsonists haphazardly breaking into the salon and spreading an accelerant on the floor. One of the masked men can be seen slipping on the accelerant before the other suspect lights the salon on fire, accidentally igniting his pants in the process. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze and no injuries were reported. NSW Police launched an investigation and believe the two men in the CCTV may be able to assist with their inquiries. #cp24 #news #arson #whales
