The £50 pond we added… We had a shady corner of the garden which needed a little something and so we decided to add a pond. Have YOU got a pond? It was our lucky day when we spotted a local skip full of rocks and pebbles where someone had just got rid of a pond! Remember to check Facebook marketplace! Ben dug a few different levels and included a slope in the hole so that wildlife could easily get in and out . Who knew that the sloped “beach” area would also become a daily bird bath. We lined the pond and then added plenty of oxygenating plants to help keep the water clear. Within weeks we spotted frogs and newts in the pond and it made it all worth it! A pond doesn’t need a pump or filter but this year we decided to add one because we wanted to hear the sound of running water! Definitely consider adding a pond to your garden. Goodbye roses 👋 ✂️ 🌹 hello rose plants that will grow my Valentine’s roses for the rest of my life 😭❤️ How to grow rose plants from stems 🌹🥀 ✂️ Cut the heads off - it hurts now but it’s all for the greater good 🌿 strip off the lower leaves just leaving the ones at the top ✂️ trim the bottom at a 45° angle ✂️ make some cuts (or peel) the bottom for roots to grow out 💧 dip in rooting powder, or aloe Vera gel, I’ve also seen honey and turmeric 🪴 put the stems in your soil or compost and water.
