·5-21SWEET CHILLI TOFU TENDERS 🍗 I promised you simple and this is it. Made under 20 minutes and so easy do add to any dish!! Ingredients 1 block extra firm tofu 1 tbsp all purpose seasoning. For the wet batter: 1 cup flour 3/4 cup water For the dry batter: 1 cup flour Salt and pepper 2 tbsp all purpose seasoning 4/5 Droplets of the wet batter For the sweet chilli glaze: 4 tbsp sweet chilli sauce 2 tbsp butter 1 tbsp soy sauce 1 tbsp agave syrup Method: 1. Start by chopping your tofu into fingers. Toss the tofu fingers in some all purpose seasoning. 2. Mix together your wet batter ingredients. 3. In a separate bowl, mix together your dry ingredients and add droplets of the wet batter into the dry batter to form thicker chunks of dry batter. 4. Dip your tofu fingers into the wet batter and then coat them in the dry batter and add them to a baking tray. 5. Spray them with oil and add them to an oven or airy fryer for around 15 mins or until golden and crispy. 6. Whilst they’re cooking, get a pan over a medium heat, add the butter and the rest of the sweet chilli glaze ingredients and melt till combined. 7. Once your tofu fingers are cooked, toss them in the glaze and then you can use them on whatever dish you like. #chickentenders #tofu #tofulover #vegan #asianrecipes #plantbased

·5-13Dinner 4 of my $20 Dollar Tree dinner series is the most involved—but also the most impressive. I made a smoked sausage and pierogi skillet from scratch, including homemade pierogi filled with mashed potatoes made from a mix of frozen fries and instant four cheese potatoes. It’s cozy, hearty, and feels way more expensive than it is. But if you’re short on time, skip the pierogi and just serve the sausage and green bean mix over mashed potatoes. I had so much leftover I even used it to make a bonus snack with extra tortillas. Smoked Sausage & Pierogi Skillet 2 cups flour ⅔ cup warm water 1 teaspoon salt 1 bag frozen French fries 1 pouch four cheese instant mashed potatoes Milk and Parmesan (to taste) 1 pack smoked sausage 1 can green beans (drained) Salt and pepper Oil for frying Mix flour, water, and salt in a bowl until a dough forms. Knead for 5 minutes until smooth, cover, and let rest 20 minutes. Meanwhile, boil French fries for 7 minutes until soft. Mash with prepared instant mashed potatoes, adding a splash of milk and Parmesan for flavor. Roll out rested dough thinly and cut into circles. Add a spoonful of potato filling to each, fold in half, and pinch to seal. Boil pierogi in salted water for 3 minutes until they float. Drain and set aside. Slice sausage and fry in a skillet until browned. Add green beans, season, and cook until heated through. Remove from pan. Pan-fry pierogi in the same skillet until golden on both sides. Return sausage and green beans to the pan and toss to combine. Alternative: Skip pierogi and serve the sausage and green beans over mashed potatoes. #DollarTreeMeals #BudgetCooking #PierogiRecipe #FrugalMeals #CheapEats #FamilyDinnerIdeas #ComfortFoodOnABudget #SmokedSausageRecipe #DollarTreeFinds #GroceryChallenge

·3-30Cheeseburger Rice is an easy one pan meal that can be made in less than 30 minutes for under $10! INGREDIENTS 1 lb of ground beef 1 tsp each of paprika, oregano, garlic powder, onion powder 1/2 tsp each of salt and pepper 1 chopped onion 1 1/2 cups of beef broth 1 cup long grain white rice, rinsed 8 oz can of tomato sauce 1 tbsp minced garlic 1 1/2 cups of shredded Colby Jack cheese INSTRUCTIONS Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown 1 lb of ground beef with chopped onion. Season with salt, pepper, paprika, oregano, garlic powder and onion powder. Once the beef is browned, drain any extra grease if needed. Add the minced garlic and stir. Next, add the rinsed uncooked rice, beef broth, and tomato sauce to the skillet. Stir everything together well. Bring to a quick boil and turn heat down to low. Cover with a lid and cook for about 15 minutes stirring once or twice to keep the rice from sticking to the bottom of the pan. Once the rice is cooked add about 1 cup of cheese and stir. Top with a little bit more cheese and let sit on the stove until the cheese melts or put it in the oven under broil for just a couple of minutes. Top with dried parsley. Enjoy! Let me know if you try it out! #onepandinner #skilletdinner #groundbeef #easyrecipes

·2024-11-29Whilst this is technically a side dish, I won’t judge is you eat the whole thing as a main 😅 Enjoy!! Chris x CAJUN BUTTER SWEET POTATO BAKE | Serves 5-6 INGREDIENTS 1.25kg / 2.7lb Sweet Potatoes* 90g / 3oz / 6 tbsp Butter, melted 1 1/2 tbsp Cajun Seasoning** 1 tsp Smoked Paprika 3/4 tsp EACH: Garlic Powder, Salt 1/4 tsp Black Pepper 30g + 20g / 1oz + 0.7oz Parmesan*** Oil Spray METHOD 1️⃣Preheat the oven to 180C/350F.
2️⃣Trim the ends from the potatoes then thinly slice them into rounds (approx 3mm/1/8"). Add to a large mixing bowl with the butter and seasoning then toss until evenly coated. Add 30g / 1oz of the parmesan and give it all a gentle mix to disperse the parmesan (don't over mix or the parmesan will clump up). 3️⃣Lightly spray a 26cm/10" oven-safe pan**** then layer the potatoes in a circle around the outside, overlapping as needed. Make a smaller circle to fill the centre. 4️⃣Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Remove the foil and increase the oven temp to 200C/400F. Sprinkle over the rest of the parmesan then bake again for around 15 minutes, or until the potatoes are crisp and fork tender. If they start charring before they're cooked through just add the foil back on and bake until fork tender. 5️⃣Serve with excess cajun butter drizzled on top then tuck in and enjoy! *Try and find ones that are evenly sized and tubular-shaped. My slices ended up around 2" wide. After you slice off the ends you should be left with around 950g/2lb, which should fill up the pan perfectly. **Different brands of cajun seasoning will be slightly spicier than others. I used a Sainsbury's own brand one and found it gave a good kick of spice, but nothing too crazy. ***I typically buy the 'dusty' pre-packaged stuff from the fridge section (don't use the non-fresh stuff). If you've just got a block of parmesan, use the most coarse side of the box grater to replicate the dusty texture. This will ensure it gets well distributed through the slices. ****If you don't have a 26cm/10" pan, you could make in a similar-sized baking dish. You might just have to put the slices in rows instead of a spiral/circle.
