This is a CRAZY story and my life would be VERY different if this didn’t happen. At 23 I almost gave away 10% of all of my future earnings for $10,000 (I had $118 to my name at the time). Watch to see why that didn’t happen. 32 years later… 2 lessons have this have stood the test of time: 1. The words you speak matter (more than you probably realize) 2. Play the long game and bet on yourself 3. There is a HUGE difference between what you CAN do and what you WILL do. We all “CAN” but “WILL” you? #CanVSWill #ThankYouLou

What do I mean by this… It's the PROCESS that matters. If you cheat the process and succeed you are creating an environment in your head that this is “ok”. In the long run it will catch up to you. If you work your butt off and don't hit your goal, you still have established amazing habits that will last forever. In the long run, that will pay off. Obviously, hitting goals matter. But don't underestimate the power of the process. Personally, I usually enjoy the process more then the event. To me that's where the war is won.

Everything matters. I believe “how you do anything is how you do everything”. If you cut corners during a workout you probably cut corners at work… in your relationships etc.

So much talk about making money and grinding. OBVIOUSLY. But there is a spiritual side to business too. Were you kind to your customers? What kind of culture did you build? Were you charitable? Did you make time for your kids while you were building your empire? Two sides to the coin.

EXPECT THE PAIN. You’re starting a business? It’s going to be hard. I know…I’ve started a dozen of them. Expect the pain. You’re going to college? It’s going to be hard… Expect. The. Pain. You’re running a race? It’s going to be hard… EXPECT THE PAIN! When the pain and obstacles come, don’t be surprised. Don’t quit… say “Hi pain! Hi obstacles! What in the world took you so long?” and keep going. People quit because they think the pain will last forever… if you keep going things can change. Circumstances change. You WILL get to the other side.

There’s not a one-size-fits-all for entrepreneurs. Everyones journey is different.

Make a list of the 25-50 people that can move the needle in YOUR business. - PR person - A Buyer - A Customer that is a great referring. Email. Call. STAY ON THEIR RADAR…. Once a quarter. It’s not to ASK for anything. It’s to check in and say hi, maybe send them something you come across they may find interesting. If someone on that list loves to golf… and you come across an interesting article on golf… SEND IT! Stay current. #NetworkingTip

THE WELL NEVER DRIES UP: The notion is if you’re in your proper lane...doing what you are supposed to be doing...then you have unlimited creativity and ideas around that project or goal. If you’re in your AUTHENTIC lane...you will ooze with new ways to move that project forward...constantly. Once you believe THAT...then you become free to NEVER hold back. You trust and BELIEVE that there is always more ammo behind your current vision. When I was deep in entrepreneur mode that belief allowed me to never hold back ideas out of fear that I had to “save it” for down the road. It allowed me to ALWAYS be in ATTACK mode. I remember a record label mate of mine saying he wanted to save a “hit song” for his next album. Huh? You have endless hits in you...IF you’re in your AUTHENTIC lane. Trust it. When you fully believe this concept it’s incredibly liberating. It’s validation that you belong. And, it allows you to go ALL IN...ALL THE TIME....a key ingredient to big time success. STEP ON THE GAS.
