strawberry rolls 🍓❤️
dough:
1/2 cup warm milk
1 tsp active dry yeast
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup melted butter
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
In a measuring cup mix together the milk, yeast and a tbsp of sugar. Let it stand until it gets bubbly and foamy. In a large bowl add in the wet ingredients, yeast and flour. Knead on the counter for 3-5 minutes until you reach a smooth ball and it springs back when touched. Add more flour if it’s sticky. Place the dough in an oiled bowl and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until it’s doubled in size.
strawberry filling:
1 cup chopped strawberries
1/4 cup sugar
1 tbsp water
1 tbsp flour
Cook down the strawberries and sugar until you get a jammy consistency. Make a slurry with flour and water, add to the strawberries and cook until thickened.
Roll of the dough and spread over the filling. Roll into a tight log and cut into 8 pieces used a serrated knife or floss. Let the dough rise again for 30 minutes.
Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes
Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
1-2 tbsp milk
1/4 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp red food colouring
