Replying to @Anthony Deluca Natural stone has always been my go to for designing kitchens and bathrooms, and so many people are against it for having a bad experience with marble. Let me tell you, that you never have to worry ever again about damaging your stone with ProSheild. It protects it from UV Damage, starching, and staining. #marble #kitchen #kitchendesign #prosheild #interiordesign #homehacks #homeimprovement #designertips #toronto #designhack #homestyling #renovation

I’m about to start handing out fines for color crimes. Color has always been one of the trickiest aspects of design—undertones, lighting, and environmental factors can completely transform how a color is perceived. That said, I have to be honest: this might be one of the worst color combinations I’ve ever seen. Few things make me recoil quite like these hues, especially when they’re used in equal measure. #interiordesign #homehacks #homeimprovement#designertips #toronto #rentaltips #apartmentdesign #designhack #designhelp #renovation #homeinspo #renovationtips #architecture  #hgtv #naturalstone #worstcolors #colorcombo

This is wrong on so many levels. I’m all for budget-friendly DIYs to elevate a space—but this takes it to a whole new (and slightly dangerous) level. You can tell this cost $11. Exposed wood beams on a ceiling? Sure, when done right. But using flammable materials to cover electrical wiring? Yeah… your insurance company just entered the chat. #interiordesign #homehacks #homeimprovement#designertips #toronto #rentaltips #apartmentdesign #designhack #designhelp #renovation #homeinspo #renovationtips #architecture

I’m a firm believer that lighting can make or break a space. Unfortunately, it’s often one of the last things people choose—and by then, the budget is usually hanging on by a thread. People love to say that hardware is the jewelry of a space, but honestly? I think lighting is the real showstopper. It’s what ties everything together and makes the design shine (literally and figuratively). You can have a beautifully designed room, but throw in bad lighting and it instantly loses its magic. So, if you’re out shopping for fixtures, here are some of my personal red flags to watch out for #interiordesign #homehacks #homeimprovement#designertips #toronto #rentaltips #apartmentdesign #designhack #designhelp #renovation #homeinspo #renovationtips #architecture  #hgtv #lighting #lightingdesign

Progress update on the primary ensuite: There are so many little details that go into thoughtful design — it’s not just about picking the coolest finishes. We’re talking about things like recessing the shower so the marble aligns perfectly with the drywall outside, adjusting door sizes and reframing walls to make sure you’re not frustrated every time you open or close a door, and relocating switches to match user preferences. For me, designing a space has always been about putting the user first. Are you left- or right-handed when you reach for the faucet? How much product do you store in the bathroom? What feels natural when you open a door? Where do you instinctively reach for a towel? How tall are you, so we can install the lighting at the right height for you? Good design is all about the inclusion of thoughtful details — it’s these small, personalized choices that turn a space from beautiful to truly livable. #interiordesign #homehacks #homeimprovement#designertips #toronto #rentaltips #apartmentdesign #designhack #designhelp #renovation #homeinspo #renovationtips #architecture #hgtv #architecturaldigest

This method may not be effective if you have Botox—just kidding! I provide countless tips and tricks to my clients around the globe to help them better understand their spaces. It's essential to recognize what enhances the aesthetic appeal and, more importantly, what detracts from it. If you're ever curious about your own space, try squinting at the room. This technique can help you perceive your surroundings in a more digestible way, allowing you to assess whether a grouping of items feels too cluttered or if your gaze gets fixated on a specific area without wandering. Pay attention to the negative space in the room; it offers valuable insight into whether you need to rearrange clusters to create a more balanced atmosphere. This method is particularly effective when you're trying to complete a room but are unsure of what might be missing. #interiordesign #homehacks #homeimprovement#designertips #toronto #rentaltips #apartmentdesign #designhack #designhelp #renovation #homeinspo #renovationtips #architecture #hgtv #architecturaldigest

2-Week Update: I can finally get a full night’s sleep!
The first stretch was tough—not because of pain, but because I cannot sleep upright or at an angle. But we made it through. I’m still experiencing some pins and needles as the nerves at the back of my head continue to heal, but overall I’m so happy with how things are looking now that the scabs have all fallen off. What you see now is the shape of my new hairline once everything grows in, which is so exciting. That said, I’m about to enter the dreaded shedding phase—so all of this will fall out soon. It’s definitely a test of patience, but I know the real growth starts in another 3–5 months. Your space should be calm and cozy. When your eyes don’t have a grounding point in a space, or a space has a features that fights for visual attention constantly is what can bore you. Visual stimulation is a trigger to the mind that can. Make you uneasy over time, this is why something that’s so highly contrasted tends to be trendy. #designfatigue #accentwall #popofcolor #interiordesign #homehacks #homeimprovement#designertips #toronto #rentaltips #apartmentdesign #designhack #designhelp #renovation #homeinspo #renovationtips #architecture

The oxblood is going to be iconic. I've always had a deep love for this color—there’s something about the richness of a burgundy tone that instantly elevates a space, giving it a sense of luxury without feeling overdone. It has this deep, velvety quality that exudes richness while still feeling balanced and not overly saturated. Tiles, though—that's where it gets tricky. Do you choose something that amplifies and blends seamlessly with the paint, or go bold with a contrasting option to create a real statement? This small bathroom is going to pack a serious punch, and the flooring is going to be the defining element. With the Viola in the mix, it’s going to be stunning either way. So the question is: do I compliment it subtly, or contrast it for maximum impact? #interiordesign #homehacks #homeimprovement#designertips #toronto #rentaltips #apartmentdesign #designhack #designhelp #renovation #homeinspo #renovationtips #architecture #hgtv #architecturaldigest

Just so we're clear—I absolutely choose books based on font, color, and size to suit my space. Especially color—if it's off, that book simply doesn’t make the cut. That said, I do still stick to topics I genuinely enjoy. Aesthetics matter, but I’m not sacrificing substance. #interiordesign #homehacks #homeimprovement#designertips #toronto #rentaltips #apartmentdesign #designhack #designhelp #renovation #homeinspo #renovationtips #architecture #hgtv #architecturaldigest #coffeetablebooks #books

The real question – Yay or Nay? Burl wood, with its swirling grain patterns and irregular textures, is a natural anomaly formed when a tree undergoes stress or damage. But what many see as a flaw, I see as a feature. In my opinion, burl wood offers endless possibilities for creative applications—its uniqueness brings a bold, organic elegance to any space. It’s fascinating how something born from a deformity in nature can be transformed into something so strikingly beautiful. #interiordesign #homehacks #homeimprovement#designertips #toronto #rentaltips #apartmentdesign #designhack #designhelp #renovation #homeinspo #renovationtips #architecture #hgtv #architecturaldigest #burlwood

Another unexpected cost—unfortunately, that’s just part of the process. You really don’t know the full extent of your limitations until demolition begins, and in this case, I definitely got catfished. The builder had done such a clean job plastering over the concrete ceilings that I assumed we’d be able to add junction boxes for the lighting plan I designed. It’s not the end of the world, though. I made the call immediately: we’d need to lower the ceilings. Thankfully, we only need to drop them by 3 inches to accommodate the wiring, framing, and junction boxes, so the overall ceiling height will barely be affected.

The craftsmanship here is next level—there’s no denying how perfectly this was installed. But using black caulk on light-colored tiles creates a lot of contrast, which can feel visually overwhelming, especially in a smaller space like a bathroom. It was a bold choice, but not one I’d personally recommend. Black caulk definitely has its moment—but I’d reserve it for darker tiles where it complements, rather than competes. What do you think? #interiordesign #homehacks #homeimprovement#designertips #toronto #rentaltips #apartmentdesign #designhack #designhelp #renovation #homeinspo #renovationtips #architecture

This always getting people riled up. The discussion of the “classic subway tile” yes it’s classic, but to what extend? I personally believe timeless elements should be versatile in nature and not pigeonhole you into a very specific interior design style that has little to now flexibility for bringing in other styles. What are your thoughts? #designick #subwaytile #interiordesign #homehacks #homeimprovement#designertips #toronto #rentaltips #apartmentdesign #designhack #designhelp #renovation #homeinspo #renovationtips #architecture
