Mass protests have erupted in Los Angeles following President Trump’s latest immigration crackdown. Trump deployed 2,000 National Guard troops to the city on Friday and Saturday, as demonstrations gathered on the southern outskirts in response to aggressive immigration enforcement. Tear gas and smoke were used by authorities to disperse the crowds. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, speaking to media on Saturday, accused California’s Democratic leaders of having “completely abdicated their responsibility to protect their citizens.” “The Trump Administration has a zero-tolerance policy for criminal behavior and violence, especially when directed at law enforcement officers doing their jobs.
