DOG & CAT OWNERS – WARNING ABOUT FOXTAILS (GRASS SEEDS) I’m sharing this urgent PSA after my dog Asia ended up at the vet with a foxtail up her nose! 😱 These tiny grass seeds are seriously dangerous for dogs and cats – especially in late spring and summer. They can get lodged in ears, paws, eyes, and noses, and even migrate under the skin. 🌾 What are foxtails? Foxtails (also called grass seeds) are barbed seeds from common wild grasses in the UK. Once they attach to your pet, they can burrow in and cause infection, swelling, sneezing, or worse – leading to costly vet visits. 🐾 Asia’s Story: One walk, one sniff – and Asia suddenly wouldn’t stop sneezing. Turns out a foxtail had worked its way deep into her nasal cavity. She had to be sedated at the vet to get it removed. ⚠️ Signs to watch for: • Sudden sneezing or pawing at nose • Limping or licking paws excessively • Shaking head or scratching ears • Redness, swelling, or discharge ✅ Check your pets after every walk, especially around paws, ears, and nose.
